There are few people who can boast that they always get a good night's sleep. We will all, at some time of our lives, suffer from sleep disturbance or insomnia .
For most people this is a temporary infliction, just lasting for a few nights at a time. Many people do, however, suffer from not sleeping properly for weeks or even months at a time.
As with any medical condition, there are various identifiable degrees of insomnia to be found in sufferers of this often debilitating condition.
The most common identifiable condition is known as transient insomnia. This is where the sufferer is unable to sleep properly for up to a week at a time. Transient insomnia is often caused by a disruption in the environment or timing of sleep. This is common for those who suddenly have to start working entirely different and unsociable shifts, or those sleeping in unfamiliar or noisy surroundings.
Sufferers of transient insomnia will find that they feel constantly tired and fatigued during their waking hours, causing them to have problems with their co-ordination and concentration levels.
Fortunately for sufferers, this condition is often relatively temporary, as they can gradually adjust their sleeping pattern and to their environment naturally and without treatment. Although the use of earplugs cannot be underrated!
